Research aircraft provide researchers with cutting-edge capabilities in observing, analyzing, and modeling the earth and its atmosphere. NSF investments include outfitting and supporting the operation of a high-performance aircraft for environmental research, other airborne research platforms, and crew and cargo transport aircraft that support research in the Arctic and Antarctic.
