Users who currently sign into Research.gov with their InCommon credentials may have their accounts affected by an upcoming system enhancement that will be effective on June 7, 2025. Please refer to the information below for the details you need to know regarding next steps.

To sign into Research.gov with your InCommon credentials, on or after June 7, your NSF account primary email must match your organization email.

  • You can review your NSF account primary email address by signing into Research.gov with your selected multifactor authentication (MFA) method (see the About Signing into Research.gov page for information about Research.gov MFA). Then, select the My Profile option at the top of the screen. Your primary email address can be seen on the Contact Information tab.
  • You can change your NSF account primary email address by following the step-by-step instructions in the View and Edit My NSF Account Profile Information job aid available in the Account Management User guide.
  • If Research.gov detects a mismatch of emails on or after June 7, you will not be able to use InCommon credentials to sign into Research.gov and must use your NSF account credentials instead.
